The angel of the Lord kills Herod

Acts 12:21-23 On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people. They shouted, "This is the voice of a god, not of a man." Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.

PERSONAL COMMENTARY

This sounds very "Old Testament."

How is this a "difficult passage"?

space,

To me it's difficult because it shows an angel of the Lord killing someone. My question is this - does God kill or does the devil? God gives life, Satan kills, steals, and destroys.

What's difficult about the angel of God killing someone? Under His authority, angels frequently carry out the work of God.

How many documented cases are there of the fabled Satan killing people in Scripture?

Apparently it was worse than that. He died AFTER his genitals were eaten by worms!
